Welcome to Nakari Miniature Goat Stud
We are a small breeding stud located in northern Tasmania on the edge of the beautiful Tamar Valley. My husband Michael and I have been breeding miniature goats for 6 years and absolutely love it! Our gorgeous, cheeky little goats are a wonderful part of our family, keeping us company around the property and are always eager for a scratch and cuddle.
Before breeding miniature goats we owned 2 standard size pet goats which we bought to help keep down the undergrowth on our property. While researching goat care on the internet we came across miniature goats and knew they were for us. As we knew of no one breeding miniature goats in Tasmania at the time we kept our eyes open for small goats which we could use to start our breeding program. Before we knew it we had 3 small doe kids and a small buck kid and we were on our way.
We have recently become members of the Miniature Goat Breeders Association of Australia, as we agree with their vision and values for the miniature goat breed in Australia. We work hard to breed small, well proportioned, healthy, gentle and loving goats which make wonderful pets for families and children.
We currently have a small herd of 2 bucks and 10 does. Our aim is to breed Nuwby goats with great colours and thick, fluffy coats.
Most of our herd is 3-5 years of age with a number of small doelings who we hope to breed next season.
We breed a selection of our does each year, with babies being born between August and October. The babies we have for sale stay with their mums for the first few days and are then bottle fed. Bottle fed babies are usually ready to go to their new homes at around 8 weeks of age.
